School District approves hiring $138,650/year general counsel

The Clark County School District unanimously appointed attorney Carlos McDade on Tuesday to be the district’s general counsel.

McDade, who has more than 25 years of experience as an attorney, will be paid an annual salary of $138,650. His two-year contract begins Dec. 1 and runs through June, 30, 2013.

According to his biography on his law firm website, McDade is a retired Air Force colonel and judge advocate who joined the Las Vegas law firm Black and LoBello, specializing in property, small business, environmental law and commercial litigation. The Yale University graduate received law degrees from the University of Colorado Law School and The George Washington University Law School.

McDade replaces former general counsel Bill Hoffman, who resigned in July to become a U.S. magistrate judge in Las Vegas.
