For employees at the Department of Motor Vehicles, it isn’t the day after Thanksgiving that brings a rush of customers, it’s the Monday after.
Some staff members call the day “Black Monday,” and it’s traditionally the department’s busiest day of the year, according to a statement from the DMV.
“Happy holidays from our family to yours,” said DMV Director Bruce Breslow in the statement. “Enjoy your time more by staying away from the DMV on Monday.”
Officials said wait times at DMV offices today could easily be double or triple that of a normal day.
If Nevada residents have DMV-related business that needs to be done today, officials suggest doing as much as possible online, at a DMV kiosk or my mail.
The DMV’s website has more information on these services as well as office wait times.

Not happy about this news at all: I contacted the NVDMV Emissions Office on Sahara on Wednesday, and they TOLD ME to come there on MONDAY!!!
Could this possibly be part of the problem with the DMV????
I would have to give this article an "F" if I was a journalism instructor for the simple reason that the reporter failed to ask "why". Why is it so much busier on the Monday after Thanksgiving? Is it from car sales on the day after Thanksgiving? Maybe answering "why" would have made this more than a mere press release for the DMV.
On a side note, I've never quite understood the continual need that some people have to go to the DMV. I moved to Las Vegas six years ago. I went to the DMV the first week I was here to get my NV license and plates. Since then I've never been back. I've done my yearly renewals online. I changed my addresses online. And I renewed my drivers license online. I once had to get a copy of my driving record for a job....which I did online.
