Sports are important for both the university and the community.
As a graduate of the University of Illinois, I participated on the cross country and track teams there and have great memories. Today I root for the Rebels (except when they play my Illini) in all sports, and have season tickets to the basketball games.
The Las Vegas community really pulled together in 1990 when UNLV won the national championship in basketball. Over the years I have donated to both universities in an effort to “pay it forward.” So I say: “Go Rebels!”
