Justin Caramanica, the man accused of hitting and killing 12-year-old Faith Love on Halloween night while allegedly driving under the influence, was arraigned on felony charges in Las Vegas Justice Court Thursday morning.
Caramanica, 41, faces charges of reckless driving and driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs causing bodily harm or death.
Caramanica was present in court Thursday morning, but did not speak. He will have a preliminary hearing Jan. 13 at 9 a.m.
He is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center on $10,000 cash bail, but his attorney William Terry said Caramanica is close to gathering enough money to post bail sometime next week. If released, Caramanica will be placed on house arrest with an alcohol sensor bracelet and no driving privileges.
Love was struck while trick-or-treating on Oct. 31 near Sandstone Bluffs and Wesley Lake Place in a Summerlin Neighborhood near Sahara Avenue and Hualapai Way, Metro Police said.
According to police, Caramanica was arrested after failing a field sobriety test and then booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
Tests conducted at the detention center allegedly showed Caramanica was under the influence of alcohol and a prescription medication, according to the arrest report.
