Donnie Gaskin rushed for 186 yards and four touchdowns Friday on nine carries in leading the Arbor View High football team to a 57-7 victory against visiting Bonanza in the Sunset Regional semifinals.
It marked the second straight season Arbor View has won a playoff game.
“Our program has reached that certain point where we expect to make it to the playoffs,” Arbor View coach Dan Barnson said. “We expect to be there and we expect to win.”
Roderick Eason had four carries for 39 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Henry Hoffend. Hoffend also rushed for a score.
Arbor View led 44-0 at halftime.
Arbor View will play at two-time defending state champion Bishop Gorman next week in the Sunset semifinals. Arbor View lost Oct. 21 to Gorman, 56-7.
“We played them three weeks ago to prepare for this game,” Barnson said. “Playing Gorman made us better. They are a top-10 team in the nation. When you play someone that good you have to get better.”
