Teen hit, killed while crossing street identified

The Clark County coroner’s office has identified a teen police said was hit and killed Saturday night in Henderson by a motorist suspected of drunken driving.

Lucas Ruiz-Brenes, 15, of Henderson died Sunday afternoon at Sunrise Hospital.

Ruiz-Brenes was crossing Center Street near Dogwood Street about 10:10 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The investigation indicates the teen, who was not in a crosswalk, ran in front of a Mercedes sport utility vehicle driven by 77-year-old Imre Jeno Dayka, of Henderson, authorities said.

Dayka was booked into the Henderson Detention Center on Saturday night on one count of felony DUI with substantial bodily harm or death, police said.

The incident marked the seventh traffic-related fatality in Henderson this year.
