The Rapture: A survival guide from Las Vegas Weekly

Forget Harold Camping’s failed Rapture prediction of 1996. The Christian radio broadcaster says this time it’s for real. He’s predicted May 21, 2011, as the Christian Rapture, followed by the end of the world Oct. 21, 2011. Some Las Vegas Sun and Las Vegas Weekly (where this story was originally published) readers will, of course, be leaving us. For the rest, here’s a handy guide to better End Times living:

    • Rapture

      Works by Samuel Beckett

Empathy and dark humor can help diffuse pain. For this, Beckett is your guy. The End is a warm embrace during frenzied chaos. Endgame and Waiting for Godot will add reason to confusion.

    • Good sneakers

The End Times are likely to be aggressive, violent and exhausting. Good shoes guarantee traction and comfort during long journeys on foot. They also give you an edge when escaping vigilantes and looters.
