1. Ke$ha’s lyric about how the party don’t start ‘til she walks in…? Bad grammar and complete BS—as proven by the dance party going down at the Pearl a good 30 minutes before the pop star takes stage on Saturday. What untruths will be revealed next? That she isn’t really a cannibal? She doesn’t really know how P. Diddy feels?
2. This crowd consists mostly of women in Ke$ha-inspired (read: sluttastic) outfits and gay men, with a smattering of straight men who are quick to note they are here accompanying women. Nothing wrong with any of that, but there is something disturbing about the number of tweens here screaming lyrics like, “Don’t be a little bitch with your chit chat, just show me where your dick’s at …”
3. Ke$ha could have ended her encore with one of her big radio hits. Instead, she relinquished the mic to her opener, Beardo, who performed a cover of “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)” while dressed as Santa Claus. Joining him on stage was a man-sized penis and other colorful characters throwing around glitter, confetti and condoms. Oh, and there was a piñata. Unexpected? Definitely. Entertaining? Yup.
4. Ke$ha donned the Nevada state flag as a cape during this chaotic encore. Apparently, she loves the Silver State. A return trip to Las Vegas has already been announced—September 16 at the Theatre for Performing Arts inside Planet Hollywood.
5. Going into this concert I was slightly ashamed and full of low expectations. Walking out—free Ke$ha condom in hand—I am coming to terms with the fact that I might love Kesha Rose Sebert. Guilty pleasures are still pleasures, and there is nothing wrong with dancing like you’re dumb, dumb, dumb, duh-uh-um…
