LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Groups that keep profits offshore can move offshore

Now that demand in the United States economy is starting to pick up, some of the folks who made large profits on the backs of regular people and moved it to offshore tax havens a few years ago would like to bring it back into the country so they can use it to make even more money.

I am talking about an amount maybe in the trillions of dollars. However, those folks are faced with perhaps having to pay some taxes on those profits if brought back. There’s no way are they going to do that.

So, after their previous ruinous tactics, they are now lobbying to lower the rate to as little as 5 percent on such profits if they deign to return it to our country. I say they need to pay the regular rate. Or, if not, they can just go live in those other places and spend their days counting their money.

We have limped along and worked toward a better economy without them thus far, so I am confident we can continue without their participation.
