Metro Police have shut down a portion of Tropicana Avenue in the eastern valley as they investigate an accident involving a motorcycle and another vehicle, officials said.
Police spokesman Jay Rivera said the accident happened just before 11:30 a.m. when a black motorcycle and black vehicle collided near the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Palm Street.
The rider of the motorcycle was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, Rivera said. There were no other reports of injuries.
A preliminary investigation indicates the black vehicle was at fault in the collision, he said.
Tropicana was closed in both directions as officials investigate and clear the scene. Police asked drivers to avoid the area.
