Approximate area of stabbing
Metro Police were investigating a stabbing Monday afternoon in the southwestern valley after medical personnel found a woman who had been stabbed three times in the chest with a fishing knife.
Police said the woman was taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit with the knife still in her chest.
Police said the Clark County Fire Department was dispatched to a home shortly after 3 p.m. on Belcastro Street, near Rainbow Boulevard and Warm Springs Road, after receiving reports that a woman was suffering a stroke.
Police said the woman’s wounds could have been self-inflicted, but the stabbing is under investigation.
Police had no information about possible suspects.
