Metro Police said a 38-year-old woman died Sunday night after her vehicle struck a parked van and rolled, ejecting her.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Caryn F. Salas-Martinez, a Las Vegas resident. The coroner hasn't officially determined her cause and manner of death.

Police said the accident happened at 9:36 p.m. on Lindell Road, south of Palmyra Avenue.

A preliminary police investigation indicates the 1997 Jeep Wrangler was southbound on Lindell when Salas-Martinez apparently lost control after crossing the intersection with Palmyra and struck a parked 2004 Ford Freestar on the east side of the road, officials said.

The accident caused the Jeep to roll, which partially ejected Salas-Martinez, who died at the scene. Her 9-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The Ford Freestar was unoccupied at the time of the accident, officials said.

The investigation is ongoing. This is the 15th fatal traffic accident in Metro's jurisdiction so far this year.
