Police seek person of interest in February shooting death

Fatal shooting

Metro Police are asking for the public's help in finding a person of interest in the death of 27-year-old Justin Jones, who was shot last month at an apartment complex near Maryland Parkway and Tropicana Avenue.

Authorities said they are looking for Gerald Wayne Osby, who goes by the nickname "G," and an unidentified man who were seen in the area at the time of the shooting Feb. 27. Police said Osby is only a person of interest in the case, not a suspect in the shooting.

Jones was shot about 3:40 p.m. at the Parkway Villas apartments, 5115 Golden Lane. He died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center later that day.

Police said a group of people were having a party in the street in front of an open garage prior to the shooting.

During the party, a man arrived and got into a confrontation with the victim, pulled a handgun and shot at him several times, authorities said.

The shooting marked the third homicide in Metro's jurisdiction in 2010.

Anyone with information about the case or Osby's whereabouts is asked to contact Metro's homicide detail at (702) 828-3521 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or visit crimestoppersofnv.com.
