Fire Station 20
A new Fire Station 20 in the northeast valley will be commissioned at an opening ceremony on Thursday.
Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins will host the event, scheduled for 11 a.m. at the new station, 5865 Judson Ave., north of Lake Mead Boulevard.
The 13,000-square-foot facility will replace a 35-year-old station just down the street, the county said in a news release, and comes equipped with classrooms and training space.
"We are proud of the dedication and service of our professional firefighters," Collins said in a statement. "By moving them into this new station and training facility, we are improving the safety and response to our constituents in this area."
Fire Station 20 generally serves the Nellis Avenue area from Lake Mead Boulevard to Craig Road. The station responded to more than 4,000 emergency calls in 2009, the county said.
