Regional law firm Lewis and Roca LLP on Tuesday announced a $500,000 commitment to The Smith Center for the Performing Arts under construction in downtown Las Vegas.

The $470 million Smith Center is a public/private partnership that will include the 2,050-seat Reynolds Hall; the Boman Pavilion housing a cabaret jazz space and a studio theater; and the Discovery Children’s Museum. The Smith Center is part of the 61-acre Symphony Park development.

The project has received support so far from 42 key donors called “founders,” as well as 16 major donors and 30 benefactors.

Lewis and Roca is the first to donate under the “corporate sponsor” category.

“Our commitment to The Smith Center reflects our dedication to enriching the lives of Southern Nevadans,” Dan R. Waite, Las Vegas office managing partner for Lewis and Roca, said in a statement. “We are absolutely thrilled to contribute to this spectacular structure, and programming of premier cultural and educational experiences for the Las Vegas community.”

“Our sponsorship of The Smith Center is an example of our continued commitment to Las Vegas as a whole,” said Ken Van Winkle, managing partner of Lewis and Roca. “We opened our Las Vegas office in 1999, and this reflects a culmination of our growth and continued success.”

As the first corporate sponsor for The Smith Center, Lewis and Roca LLP will receive sponsorship recognition at The Smith Center and promotional opportunities throughout the inaugural season.

Lewis and Roca also has offices in Reno, Phoenix, Tucson, Albuquerque and Silicon Valley.
