Metro Police released this sketch Monday of the robber.

Approximate area of incident

Metro Police today are asking for the public's help in finding a man who struck a woman while robbing a home Friday morning in the western valley.

Police responded at 11 a.m. to the robbery call at a home near Charleston Boulevard and Durango Drive.

Lt. Robert Duvall said a man entered the home and surprised the woman inside, slapping her twice in the face.

The man browsed the home and stole several items of significant value before fleeing, Duvall said.

Police believe the robber might have seen the woman's husband arrive home because the husband entered the house within seconds of the man leaving, Duvall said.

The woman was not sexually assaulted, but Metro's sexual assault section is investigating the incident because it first responded to the scene, Duvall said.

Authorities described the man as Hispanic and about 5-foot-9-inches tall with a medium build, short black hair and wraparound, thin sideburns that met under his chin. He had fair skin and well-manicured eyebrows and facial hair.

Anyone with information about the man's identity or whereabouts is being asked to call Metro's sexual assault section at (702) 828-3421 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or visit crimestoppersofnv.com.
