The state Board of Regents is scheduled to consider a two-year contract extension this for Nevada football coach Chris Ault that would push his base pay above the $500,000 mark for the first time in 2013.
Ault led Nevada to a 13-1 record and a No. 11 ranking in The Associated Press' final poll last season -- the school's first national ranking since 1948.
Ault was the only Top 25 coach to make less than $1 million last season.
Under the new deal, his 2010 base pay of $443,000 would rise to $518,000 in 2013. That's still below last year's conference average of $555,000.
The extension is not expected to face any opposition when it comes up before the regents in Carson City on Thursday or Friday.
