New Jersey man who died in jump from Cosmopolitan identified

A 25-year-old New Jersey man who died in a jump from a ledge at the Cosmopolitan on the Las Vegas Strip has been identified as Sean Campe, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

The coroner ruled the death a suicide.

Cosmopolitan security officials called Metro Police at 4:42 a.m. Friday reporting that Campe was threatening to jump from a fourth-floor ledge on the 51-story building. Officers and police negotiators were dispatched to the scene and made efforts to talk the man out of jumping, police said.

Authorities said he jumped shortly before 6:30 a.m. and was taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit, where he was pronounced dead.

Eastbound and westbound traffic on Harmon Avenue from Interstate 15 to Las Vegas Boulevard was closed briefly after the man jumped.
