Some cool cats will be gathering at the Freakin' Frog next Wednesday for a free concert. Jaman Laws, son of jazz great Ronnie Laws and nephew of Hubert Laws, will pick up his saxophone alongside the Vernell Brown Jr. Trio.
The show starts at 9:30 p.m., sponsored by the Michelob Brewing Co. as part of an ongoing public concert series at the Freakin' Frog to "keep jazz alive alive in Vegas," the club said in a news release.
Born into the life, Laws' career has included an appearance on the HBO special "Lackawanna Blues." The Vernell Brown Jr. Trio -- featuring Chris Hermes on bass, Joe Thomasula on drums and Vernell Brown Jr. on the piano -- plays at 9:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Freakin' Frog.
The Freaking Frog is at 4700 S. Maryland Parkway. For more information, call 702-597-9702.
