Cell phone cameras were getting heavy use at the second night of the Electric Daisy Carnival at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday June 25, 2011.

A Metro Police official said this morning the Electric Daisy Carnival’s second night at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway had more people than the first night, but turned out to be not as eventful for law enforcement officials, with only nine drug-related arrests made.
“There were more arrests, but less narcotics arrests,” said Lt. Tom Roberts, Metro watch commander. Metro Released the following official numbers concerning police-related activities at Saturday's event:
From 6 p.m. Saturday through 6 a.m. today, there were:
— Nine felony arrests — all related to narcotics, compared to 12 felony arrests the first night.
— Eleven misdemeanor arrests, compared to six on the first night.
— One DUI-alcohol arrest, compared to one on the first night.
There were also 187 medical calls through Medic West Ambulance Service, with 12 patients transported to area hospitals. On the first night, there were 143 medical calls through Medic West Ambulance Services. About 300-plus people were treated and five were transported to area hospitals.
Officials also said 21 people were ejected from the event, compared to 31 ejections on the first night.
The event, which continues tonight, brought in between 82,000 and 87,000 people on its second night, compared to about 75,000 on its first night, according to Insomniac Inc., the promoter. The event is expected to bring in close to 250,000 total attendance by the time it ends early Monday morning.
One of the major incidents at the event was Saturday’s discovery that possibly as much as $1 million in counterfeit wristbands were being sold for the event.
After investigating, Metro Police arrested Pathomrat Kunawongse, 35, and Aaron Hernandez, 37, of California. Kunawongse was charged with burglary, attempting to obtain money under false pretenses, possession of stolen property, attempted forgery and conspiracy to commit a crime. Hernandez was charged with obtaining money under false pretenses, attempted forgery and conspiracy to commit a crime.
“A lot of times if a deal was too good to be true, there’s probably something wrong with it,” Roberts said.

Considering the number of people this is doing pretty good. Hotels are booked at high rates, some food is being bought around town and the Speedway is doing well.
Hopefully tonight is also peaceful and all goes well. Would be nice to see this become a yearly event. Every little bit helps Las Vegas.
The promoters seem to have this well planned and trying to do right by everyone involved.

Leave it to Metro to ruin the economy, next thing they will want more taxes. Like people like Rush Limbaugh come to town with his pills, do they target him with an undercover team?
Time to cut Metro's budget.

"WOW", nine arrests in a crowd of 70 thousand plus, not much of a news story. Wonder how many DUI arrests happened on Saturday in LV, NLV, Henderson and BC? This concert has been a loss for the media who are salivating for a really good violent story to discredit the concert and the young people who are attending it.

Can't they just let people have fun? You are only young once and enjoying yourself in Las Vegas is what people should be able to do WITHOUT stupid drug laws.

A "private property" owner can say what happens on this property. Obviously, illegal drugs or activity are not allowed on the speedway property. Would you sit and do lines of coke while in line at Albertson's? No, I didn't think so. Use your head, Bob. Has nothing to do with "the police always have to cause trouble" but in plain terms - the police were enforcing the law. Remember: it is against the law to do illegal drugs regardless of where it takes place. Idiot.

Fabulous Job Electric Daisy Carnival and Goers! This gigantic 3 day event went very well due to the respect most all participants have and came with.
When it is all said and done, and folks compare statistics (medical, crime, traffic accident related) to the NASCAR and RODEO events while they are going on in town, there were LESS incidents with the Electric Daisy Carnival.
It is a perfect fit to have the Electric Daisy Carnival here in Las Vegas, a WORLD DESTINATION entertainment capital, so welcome, and please keep it coming!
Good idea Mred 9 people out of 85,000 were too stupid to obey the law so we need to oblidge them by CHANGING THE LAW and turning them loose on those who were there to have fun... legally!
