A 2-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition this morning after a Thursday evening crash in the northeast valley.

The collision occurred about 7 p.m. at the intersection of Owens Avenue and Mt. Hood Street, police said. A 2005 BMW 330Cl was westbound on Owens when a 2003 Honda Accord southbound on Mt. Hood tried to make a left turn into Owens, police said.

Police said Joseph Pella, 25, of Las Vegas, who was driving the BMW, failed to stop at the stop sign. The BMW collided into the left side of the Honda, police said.

Pella and three occupants of the Accord were taken to University Medical Center, police said.

Michelle Hernandez, the 31-year-old Las Vegas woman driving the Honda, suffered serious injuries, police said. Two passengers in the Honda, a 14-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy, were taken to UMC with minor and critical injuries, respectively, police said. Police didn't release the names of the two passengers because they are minors.

Pella suffered minor injuries, police said. The collision is being investigated by Metro’s Accident Investigation Section.
