New LV recycling center open for business

Have an old set of steel drums or a barbecue grill you're looking to get rid of?

A new recycling center in Las Vegas will take old metal objects large or small and pay cash for them on the spot.

The new center, located at 2780 N. Nellis Blvd., is operated by SA Recycling and is the company's fourth scrap recycler in the valley.

Residents can drop off any items they wish to discard between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7:00 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

Employees at the center will help unload items, weigh them and then pay the recycler for the scrap metal. The metals are shredded and sorted into pure metals like steel, aluminum, copper or iron before they are shipped overseas to be recycled into new appliances.

For larger items, like refrigerators, SA Recycling is also offering a new pick-up service. Residents can call 1-800-468-7272 to schedule a pick-up for $50.
