A 51-year-old Brazilian woman was killed Wednesday night when the car she was driving collided with a car that witnesses said ran a red light at Harmon Avenue and Jones Boulevard, Metro Police said.

Police said the woman was southbound on Jones in a 2010 Ford Focus, entering the intersection on a green light, when her car collided with a car headed west on Harmon.

Witnesses stated the westbound car — a 2008 Ford Focus — failed to stop for a red traffic signal, police said.

Two passengers with the Brazilian woman, a 50-year-old woman also from Brazil and a 40-year-old woman from Oakland, Calif., suffered minor injuries, police said.

The 21-year-old driver of the other car suffered minor injuries, and a 26-year-old passenger was seriously injured, police said. Both are from Las Vegas.

Four people, including the woman who was later pronounced dead, were taken to University Medical Center, and the other person was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

The name of the woman who died was not released pending notification of her family.

The crash remains under investigation. It was the 38th traffic related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
