The mother convicted along with her husband for the 2008 death of their special needs son, who was left in a hot vehicle, was sentenced today to serve five to 20 years in prison.

Colleen Rimer was sentenced by Judge Douglas Herndon Thursday, more than four months after she and Stanley Rimer were convicted of involuntary manslaughter in their son Jason’s death.

The two were also convicted of multiple counts of neglect and child abuse of Jason and their other special needs son, Aaron. Stanley Rimer was also convicted of the child abuse and neglect of three of their other sons.

Jason, was found dead inside the family’s SUV on June 8, 2008, after being left strapped in his seat for 17 hours, police said.

Stanley Rimer was sentenced in May to serve eight to 30 years in prison.

Colleen Rimer’s sentencing was delayed until today. Her sentences on the multiple counts will run concurrently, and with credit for the time she has already served she could be out of prison in a little more than three years.
