Carlos’n Charlie’s, a Mexican restaurant chain that has more restaurants in Mexico than in the United States, will open its fourth U.S. location this winter at the Flamingo.

The bar and grill is popular not just for its food but for its “get loose, get loud” atmosphere, according at least to one of its websites.

“This lively and upbeat restaurant and bar will offer Flamingo guests a new attractive dining option,” resort president Rick Mazer said in a statement.

Carlos’n Charlie’s opened its first location in Acapulco, Mexico, in 1970 and has grown to 11 locations in Mexico and three in the United States. The closest to Las Vegas is in Austin, Texas.

Patrons can expect traditional Mexican fare, with a few American highlights — burgers and wings, for example. But if you’re looking for a quiet night out, head elsewhere. Waiters are known for plucking unsuspecting customers from their tables and throwing them into a conga line.

The new restaurant will complement other changes the Flamingo is making. A Margaritaville Casino, fashioned after Jimmy Buffett’s famous brand, will open this fall. It is expected to include a 15,000-square-foot casino floor, 22 gaming tables, 220 slot machines and a centerpiece 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar.
