Metro Police detective pleads not guilty to charges in Montana crash

A Las Vegas police detective has pleaded not guilty to two counts of felony criminal endangerment and a misdemeanor DUI charge stemming from a two-vehicle crash near Laurel, Mont.

Timothy Nicothodes entered his plea in District Court in Billings, Mont., on Thursday and is free without bond pending trial.

Prosecutors say the 46-year-old was driving his pickup truck nearly 100 mph when he rear-ended a car near a highway intersection the night of May 27. Both vehicles went off the road and rolled several times.

The Billings Gazette reports Nicothodes, an 11-year veteran of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, was badly injured, and two people in the other vehicle also were hurt.

Prosecutors say Nicothodes' blood alcohol level was between 0.192 percent and 0.219 percent, more than twice the limit for driving.
