Henderson-based online retailer Zappos.com once again took one of the top spots on the coveted Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list.

The company known more for its quirky corporate culture these days than its selection of shoes jumped from No. 15 to No. 6 on this year’s list. Zappos first appeared on the Fortune Best Companies to Work For list in 2009.

“Now part of the Amazon.com family, the company’s quirky, happy culture remains: Employees enjoy free lunches, no-charge vending machines, a full-time life coach on hand, and 'create fun and a little weirdness' as one of the company’s guiding tenets,” Fortune noted.

Fortune listed Zappos’ current employee total at about 840 and 2009 revenue at an estimated $1.2 billion.

Zappos started with shoes in 1999, but it has expanded to a range of inventory including clothing and electronics.

CEO Tony Hsieh and his company have garnered a celebrity-like following over the years. They’ve both climbed numerous “best of” lists, most recently The New York Times Bestseller List. Hsieh’s book “Delivering Happiness” hit No. 1 in late June.

The company recently announced it would be moving its Henderson office at Corporate Circle to the former Las Vegas City Hall building downtown in 2012.

Apartment management firm Camden Property Trust, which has an office in Henderson, followed Zappos in the No. 7 spot on the Fortune list. The Houston-based company manages 29 apartment complexes in the Las Vegas Valley.
