As they gear up for the 2011 Miss America Pageant next Saturday on ABC, the 53 contestants were armed with forks and spatulas Friday morning. They donned aprons and their state sashes for a pancake-making breakfast in honor of Children’s Miracle Network at Planet Hollywood.

It also was a double celebration marking Elvis Presley’s birthday and Miss America’s 90th anniversary. The glamour girls created a pancake birthday cake dressed with peanut butter and bananas and sang “Happy Birthday” to the King of Rock and Roll.

IHOP’s sixth National Pancake Day benefiting CMN hospitals is March 1, when more than 1,500 IHOP restaurants nationwide offer customers a complimentary short stack of buttermilk pancakes in an effort to raise awareness and funds for CMN and its U.S. charities. If the $2.35 million goal is met, it would bring the total to $7.5 million in six years.

With the title of 2011 Miss America 2011 up for grabs, the 53 contestants and Miss America Organization Board Chairman Sam Haskell III attended a performance by music legend Barry Manilow at the Paris on Friday evening. After the performance, they were invited to meet the Strip headliner and pose for a group photograph.
