LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

President Obama needed in Wisconsin

I am a little confused as to why President Barack Obama has not been more active in supporting the labor movement in Wisconsin in light of what is occurring there. I know there must be a valid reason because he is a good man. I have supported him as a presidential candidate and as the president of the United States. I will support him in his bid for a second term.

I just want someone who is more politically astute than myself to explain to me — and many others I am sure — why the president has not done as promised in a 2007 speech, in which he said he would put on his walking shoes and walk the picket line if the need should ever arise.

Someone/anyone please enlighten me as to what would be wrong with this action.

There are numerous occasions in U.S. history where various presidents did not hesitate to step up to the plate to support their base.

Labor organizations in Wisconsin desperately need the president’s active support.
