For those with refined taste, or taste buds at all, the Rotary Club of Boulder City is co-hosting a training class aimed at new judges for the Best Dam Barbecue Challenge on Memorial Day weekend.
In partnership with the Kansas City Barbeque Society, the four-hour class, which will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. May 26 before the cookoff, will earn its attendees certification as an official judge for the KCBS.
The fee is $100 and includes membership with the KCBS. Judging spaces are still available for the 2011 event, its organizers said.
More than 40 teams are expected to compete for $10,000 in prizes on May 27 and 28 during the seventh annual Best Dam Barbecue Challenge -- the official Nevada State Championship Cookoff, as sanctioned by the KCBS.
Applications can be downloaded from the event's website. For more information, call 702-293-3150.
