The Nevada State Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights will present a summary report on the status of civil rights in Nevada during a public meeting at the Clark County Library on Friday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the library's large conference room. The meeting is open to the public.

The group -- which works to ensure that citizens are granted their civil rights, according to its website -- will review a report on a 2006 special meeting regarding the status of civil rights in Nevada. Questions and input from the public is encouraged.

In a letter posted to its website, the committee asked in 2005 that the U.S. Department of Justice investigate complaints that the committee had received regarding intimidation of minority residents in Las Vegas.

A public hearing was then held in November 2006, and Friday's meeting will examine the outcomes of that hearing.
