LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Republican hypocrisy rises again

In the past election cycle, the GOP/Tea Party made a “Pledge to America,” much as was done before Newt Gingrich became the speaker of the House during the Clinton administration.

The leadership of Gingrich and the Republican Party let the government fail by not allocating funds, resulting in a fiasco. It ultimately cost Gingrich his job and Republicans lost seats in Congress. Does déjà vu sound familiar? We are at the same circumstances again.

The GOP/Tea Party promised all sorts of fixes to our government, but little has been attempted. They’ve focused their complete attention on bringing down President Barack Obama by voting to repeal the health care law. All those promises to America about jobs and reforming Congress haven’t been touched on yet.

People on the far right have been duped again. The GOP has lied to gain power and caters to corporations, banks and the wealthiest 2 percent. It will be business as usual and those promises will be ignored.

Ray A. Cohn, in his Feb. 14 letter to the editor, wrote about the hypocrisy of House Speaker John Boehner and I pretty much agree with all he said.
