Police: Woman arrested in stabbing death of boyfriend

Metro investigates deadly stabbing

Metro Police have arrested a woman they say is the girlfriend of a man who was stabbed and later died today.

Chamel Smith, 29, has been booked at the Clark County Detention Center and charged with murder with a deadly weapon, police said.

Police were initially called around 7:19 a.m. to a residence near Swenson Street and Twain Avenue to investigate a home invasion, police said.

When officers arrived at the home on the 3700 block of Hazelwood Street they found a 25-year-old man suffering from an apparent stab wound, officials said.

The man was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where he later died, police said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after an autopsy and the next of kin has been notified.
