Man dies after car veers into construction site

Map

A 27-year-old Las Vegas man died instantly Friday afternoon when his truck hit a construction crane on northbound U.S. Highway 95.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixon said the call came in about 3:10 p.m.

Troopers found the man dead in a 2007 Ford Ranger. Hixon said it appears the man veered off the left shoulder of the highway under the Cheyenne Avenue overpass and drove into a construction area where he struck a crane.

It appears the man was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene, said Hixon.

There were no witnesses to the accident and troopers do not suspect alcohol was a factor.

The victim will be identified after the next of kin is notified.

The accident is under investigation.
