This week's Sports Illustrated cover may turn some Rebel fans away — Duke's Mike Krzyzewski has that way with people — but don't toss it in the trash.
Starting on page 32 in this week's issue, there's a three-page spread on UNLV's hot start to the 2011-12 season, under the headline "Off and Runnin': A new coach and a roster full of transfers have made Sin City hoops exciting again".
George Dohrmann, a senior writer at SI and author of "Play Their Hearts Out", which features Rebel junior Justin Hawkins during his AAU days, introduces coach Dave Rice to national readers. The story briefly delves into Rice's hiring, his coaching philosophy and how that plan has already netted positive results.
It also explains how a pair of UCLA transfers — Chace Stanback and especially Mike Moser — have elevated the Rebels back into the national spotlight.
Here's the story: "Off and Runnin' ".

great article but it incorrectly states, "If the Rebels are able to win the Mountain West for the first time since 2000...", when we all know that unlv won back to back mwc championships in 07-08.
Hey cbarrious: I'm pretty certain they mean wining the MWC regular season title. But good point. Thanks for reading.
