Nightclubs on the Strip may be rivals during the year, but during the holidays, they join forces for DJ Chet Buchanan’s 13th Annual Toy Drive. While he’s freezing atop the scaffolding encampment at Nevada Energy for his round-the-clock, 10-day drive, nightclub employees have been busy fundraising and shopping to make donations.

Illusionist Criss Angel from Cirque du Soleil’s “Believe” at the Luxor is just one of the Strip celebrities duplicating their gift giving again this year. Tomorrow, nearly 100 employees of XS and Tryst at the Wynn donate a portion of their earnings and will buy more than $100,000 in gifts at Wal-Mart.

The mountain of toys will be packed into semis and driven to Chet’s collection point. Last year, XS and Tryst co-owner Jesse Waits saw his team deliver $106,000, and with 3 hours of shopping in the morning, he expects to shatter the figure and set a new record.

Surrender at Steve Wynn’s Encore features its Second Annual Toy Drive tomorrow night when dynamic Australian duo Nervo performs. Partygoers who bring new, unwrapped toys receive free admission, and the gifts benefit Las Vegas After-School All-Stars.

Staff at Tao in the Venetian, Lavo in the Palazzo and Marquee at the Cosmopolitan were the first to donate to Chet’s drive with a truck of new bicycles.
