Portion of Charleston Boulevard to close tonight for project work

Work on a storm drain project will close Charleston Boulevard near Decatur Boulevard tonight through Monday, city officials said.

Charleston will be closed between Arville Street and Essex East Drive beginning at 9 p.m. tonight and ending at 5 a.m. Monday.

In addition, Charleston will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Decatur and Valley View boulevards.

Traffic will be detoured during the closure to Sahara Avenue between Decatur and Valley View.

The closure is to allow crews to install a 23-foot-wide storm drain under Charleston.

The work will take place around the clock to have the road open before school begins Monday, officials said.
