Tea Party is just a faction for now

Much has been printed regarding the “Tea Party” through letters to the editor and commentaries.

Let us look at the “Tea Party.” A political party has its own national committee, raises its own funds and promotes candidates of its own party. On the other hand, the “Tea Party” rides the coattails of the Republican Party, promotes its candidates under the Republican Party banner and generally does not have the ability, conviction or funds to run a true third-party candidacy.

I don’t always disagree with the Tea Party’s agenda. The Tea Party’s adherents actually have a few valid points. However, until they decide to become a genuine third party, I will continue to disregard them as just a faction of an established political party.

If they are sincere in their agenda, let them “put their money where their mouth is.”
