St. Rose Parkway to close for pedestrian bridge construction

New pedestrian bridge

Construction of a pedestrian bridge will close busy St. Rose Parkway in Henderson tonight and likely Wednesday night, as well as at least one night next week.

Crews will be putting the steel structure in place for the bridge, which will cross St. Rose between Eastern Avenue and Coronado Center Drive.

Eastbound St. Rose will close at 9 p.m. tonight while crews install a 99-foot section of the bridge. Motorists will be detoured at Eastern Avenue and Coronado Center Drive, city officials said.

If there is enough time left in the night, crews then will close westbound St. Rose to place the second 99-foot section of the bridge, but that work most likely will have to wait until Wednesday night, city spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said.

St. Rose Parkway will reopen by 5 a.m. each morning.

Work on the bridge also will close St. Rose for one or two nights next week to allow crews to pour concrete onto the steel structure.

Those closures likely will take place Tuesday and Wednesday night, but haven't been confirmed by the contractor, Richards said.

The bridge will be part of the Amargosa Trail, which starts at Mission Drive west of Horizon Ridge Parkway and connects to the county’s trail system west of Eastern Avenue.

The bridge, which will cost $1,686,400, is funded through the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act and is scheduled to be complete next month.
