Metro Police say a man and a juvenile have been arrested in California for allegedly calling Las Vegas hotel-casinos and making bomb threats from July 28 to Aug. 8.

Metro Police say 18-year-old Zachary Jackson of Ventura County, Calif., and the juvenile were arrested after an arrest warrant was served Wednesday morning at a home the two live in.

Lt. Gregory Damarin, of Metro's counter-terrorism division, said Jackson and the juvenile used sophisticated devices to disguise their voices when they called hotel-casinos in Las Vegas threatening to blow them up if they didn't provide large amounts of money.

Police found voice-altering devices while searching Jackson’s home, but no bomb-making material.

“We take all bomb threats seriously, but there was nothing found that indicated there was a threat,” Damarin said.

Jackson was charged in Ventura County in connection with malicious informing of a bomb and attempted extortion. He is being held in the Ventura County Detention Center with bail set at $50,000. The two also will face charges in Las Vegas.

Police weren't releasing the name of the juvenile.
