When it comes time to retire, many people choose to relocate somewhere warmer and seek out a place where they'll have plenty of ways to spend their free time.
The Las Vegas Valley is home to numerous retirement communities, but Sun City Anthem in Henderson has been singled out as the most luxurious in the country by a national website.
In a ranking of the top 10 "most luxurious" retirement communities in the country, 55places.com put Sun City Anthem at the top of the list, ahead of communities in California, Arizona and Florida.
The website praised Sun City Anthem's three "amenity-rich" clubhouses and its 36-hole golf course. The entertainment and dining options provided by the Strip also helped push the Henderson community of 7,100 homes to the top of the list.
"I think all of us who chose to live here knew we were moving into an exceptional community, but it is especially gratifying to have an impartial service label us the best of the best," Sun City Anthem Board of Directors President Jim Long said in a statement.
Sun City Anthem was the only Nevada community on the list, which also included two communities in California, three in Florida, three in Arizona and one in South Carolina.
