Single-vehicle crash

The northbound Las Vegas Beltway was closed Wednesday night near West Russell Road, after a rollover crash in which the driver was ejected and broke his back, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened about 6:55 p.m. near the West Russell Road off-ramp, police said. The driver was the only person in the vehicle, Trooper Jeremy Elliott said. No other cars were involved.

An air ambulance responded to the scene to fly the victim to University Medical Center, police said.

The Highway Patrol reports that the freeway has since been reopened.

No additional details were immediately available, and the wreck remains under investigation.
