North Las Vegas firefighters to host free pancake breakfast

The North Las Vegas Fire Department will give a kitchen fire safety demonstration after its free pancake breakfast on Saturday.

City firefighters, along with local Boy Scouts, will serve breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Fire Station 51, 2626 E. Carey Ave. The breakfast is an outreach opportunity for the fire department and allows the Boy Scouts to complete their Eagle Scout project badge.

Between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., firefighters will simulate a kitchen fire, teaching attendees how to safely exit bedrooms filled with smoke. There will also be smoke alarm information available, and the department will offer free smoke alarm installation for seniors and citizens with disabilities.

In addition, fire trucks will be on display. Children can receive junior firefighter badge stickers for attending.

For more information, contact fire department spokesman Cedric Williams at 702-292-9127.
