Metro Police today identified a man arrested Monday night in connection with a domestic violence investigation that led to street closures in a northeast valley neighborhood.

Julio Angel Romero, 36, was taken into custody at 9 p.m. Monday in Henderson near Boulder Highway and Sunset Road, police said.

Earlier in the day, police surrounded a home at 5673 Forsythe Drive because they thought Romero was inside as they prepared to execute a search warrant. That location is near Ballinger Drive and Sloan Lane.

Romero wasn't inside the home, but police found his car outside with bullet holes, blood and bandages inside.

Police originally had responded to a domestic violence situation Sunday night involving Romero and a woman, who was unharmed. Officers returned to the home on Forsythe Drive to follow up Monday morning.

Metro spokesman Marcus Martin said Romero had apparently killed the woman's dog.

Romero was booked into the Clark County Detention Center in connection with battery domestic violence by strangulation, robbery, maime/poison/kill another person's animal, injuring property of another, battery domestic violence and a probation violation.
