LAW ENFORCEMENT:

Police searching for man in probe into human remains

Map

Metro Police said today they are looking for a man who previously lived at a home where human remains were found buried in the backyard on Saturday.

Police responded at 11:16 a.m. Saturday to the 1300 block of Gold Avenue to investigate reports of possible human remains. That location is near Owens Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Homicide detectives started an investigation after officers determined the remains were likely human, police said. Detectives canvassed the neighborhood to learn about the former occupants of the home.

Police said a married couple previously lived there, and the man leased the home to the current occupant, authorities said.

Police are looking for that man, who is considered a person of interest in the case. Detectives are also investigating whether the body could be that of the woman.

The Clark County Coroner's Office will release the victim's name pending an autopsy and notification of family members. Police didn't release the names of the home's former occupants.

Anyone with information is being asked to call Metro's homicide section at (702) 828-3521 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or visit www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
