Roads closed as crews prepare for Helldorado Days

Road closures

Preparation for Helldorado Days is already beginning to impact traffic in downtown Las Vegas.

The annual rodeo, carnival and parade is scheduled for May 12 through 15. Some city streets are already closed as crews begin work on the rodeo grounds.

Beginning this week, Mesquite Avenue has been closed to traffic between Las Vegas Boulevard and Seventh Street through May 30. In addition, Sixth and Seventh streets are closed between Mesquite and Stewart avenues.

More street closures will be put in place when the event arrives.

City officials said Stewart Avenue will be closed between Las Vegas Boulevard and Seventh Street from 3 p.m. May 12 to midnight May 15 for pedestrian traffic.

In addition, the annual parade on May 14 will close Fourth Street between Charleston and Ogden avenues from 4 to 10 p.m. Coolidge, Hoover and Gass avenues will also be closed between Casino Center Boulevard and Fourth Street during that time.
