Road closures planned tonight ahead of I-15 ramp opening

I-15-beltway interchange

A new ramp to improve the connection between Interstate 15 and the Las Vegas Beltway is set to open Thursday, but first motorists will have to get through some extra construction closures tonight.

Officials with the I-15 Design-Build South Project said the new ramp will connect southbound I-15 to the westbound beltway. The exit for the ramp will be about 500 feet north of Sunset Road, while the existing exit, which is shared with the ramp to the eastbound beltway, is after Sunset Road.

But first, the off-ramp from northbound I-15 to Russell Road is scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. tonight to 5 a.m. Thursday for preparation work to reopen the Frank Sinatra access ramp.

In addition, the ramp from northbound I-15 to Blue Diamond Road will be closed during the same period for crews to pour concrete for a barrier rail.

The $246.5 million project to widen the freeway from Blue Diamond Road to Tropicana Avenue began in February 2010 and is scheduled to end in March 2012.
