I was quite elated when I read The Washington Post story about Sen. Bernie Sanders forcing the Smithsonian museum shops to start selling only souvenirs made in the United States. It’s about time someone thought about this!
Many products are manufactured elsewhere to make a cheaper product. However, cheaper isn’t always better — wallboard and pet food, for example.
Many of us would willingly pay more for products made in the USA, but they are hard to find, which brings me to the point of this letter. It would be so helpful to both the buyer and the seller if every product had “Made in the USA” prominently displayed on the sales tag or a sticker on the front.
I think there is a good chance that many buyers would select those products, thus increasing sales and hopefully encouraging more manufacturing. This seems to me to be such a no-brainer that someone higher up than a little old lady from Henderson would have thought of it sooner!
