Lake Mead among parks waiving fees this weekend

With highs reaching into the 80s this weekend and sunny skies in the forecast, it could be a perfect time to take advantage of free entry at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Saturday marks the beginning of fee-free week at national parks, which means the entry fee is waived at participating national parks across the country.

Other nearby participating parks include Death Valley National Park in California and Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona.

At Lake Mead, special programs and hikes are scheduled throughout the week.

Seven-day admission passes to Lake Mead are usually $10 for vehicles and motorcycles, $16 for vessels and $5 for those who enter on foot or by bicycle. Annual passes can be purchased for $30.
