An 18-year-old Las Vegas man died in a Saturday morning crash in the eastern Las Vegas Valley.

The collision, which also injured two other people, happened shortly after 6 a.m. on Desert Inn Road east of the Pecos-McLeod Interconnect, Metro Police said.

Investigators said a 2004 Pontiac Aztek was westbound on Desert Inn when it left the roadway and struck a wall, ejecting the driver, who died at the scene.

The vehicle continued back onto the road and into the path of a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer, which was eastbound on Desert Inn. The truck was unable to slow and hit the rear of the Pontiac, police said.

A passenger in the Pontiac, identified by police as 18-year-old Brandon Williams, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the truck, Jeffery Leliefeld, of Mesa, Ariz., was hospitalized with minor injuries, police said.

The name of the Pontiac's driver will be released later by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The death was the 23rd traffic fatality of the year in Metro’s jurisdiction.
